The Project

In the Spring of 2005, the Organ Committee had just completed its work and recommended to the Vestry commissioning a new organ to be built by the C. B. Fisk Company in Gloucester, Mass. After receiving the Organ Committee Report, the vestry launched a “Master Planning Committee” to evaluate the overall condition of the church and its environs. The committee, originally chaired by Junior Warden Tom Williams and continued by Tom’s successor Rob Smith, engaged Eason and Farlow of Chapel Hill, to assist with this process.

Their report, which helped formulate much of the hoped for scope and budget of the project’s feasibility phase, can be found in this PDF Building Fabric Report – August 2006 (please allow a moment for it to download).

Once the project moved into design and construction, a new Building Committee was constituted, chaired by Brian Simpson. Simpson and his committee are overseeing, along with the Vestry of the parish, the renovation and restoration of the nave and the installation of the Fisk’s Opus 136.
